Back

Do I need to dafka be a dancer, singer, or actor to enjoy the program?

No, you need to be a person who enjoys the performing arts and is willing to share your artistic strengths and work to grow in areas of weakness. Most importantly you have to come with a positive attitude and be willing to grow as a person.

Is the Summer Program good for me?

The best way to find out is to call our office and set up a conversation with one of our staff. Ask your questions, express your concerns and reservations to see if this seems like a good place for you. Another way is to request a list of girls and madrichot who have attended in past summers and ask them your questions.

We are happy to provide your parents with a list of parents whose daughters have experienced the program in summers past; have your mom give them a call; see what they have to say.

Transportation to Eretz Yisroel

There will be a group flight arranged on EL AL from JFK to Eretz Yisroel for all American and Canadian girls. The girls will fly together accompanied by their madrichot. There will also be a group flight on the way back after camp.

Accommodations

The girls will be housed in a private and secure seminary complex. The housing is equipped with all amenities that are necessary for comfortable living. In addition to sleeping the girls will also eat, attend shirum, and participate in specialty workshops on the premises. For the safety and service of the girls there will be approximately one (1) madricha housed on site for every six (6) campers.

Food

The girls are served three square meals a day plus plenty of healthy snacks. All food is prepared by caterers with the highest standard of kashrus. Special arrangements can be made for individuals with food allergies and or special tastes.

Program Staff

The program was developed to encourage and inspire, and our carefully selected staff does just that. Each staff member, whether a tour guide, a dance teacher, or a madricha is chosen because of her upstanding middos and Torah hashkafa; they are part of the team because of their special ability to connect with the girls and inspire them by example.

Safety

Safety first!  Traveling with us on our bus is an IDF-trained, armed security guard/EMT medic.  All transportation is by private bus and no camper is permitted to use public transportation at any time.  Prior to each day we clear our itinerary w/ the ministry of tourism, the IDF and the local Police.

Supervision during free time

Although there is built-in free time for shopping, strolling, and relaxing; it is always supervised. No matter if the girls are shopping in Geula or just taking a walk to the corner store, no step goes unsupervised by program staff.

Dress

Being that we are located in the heart of Yerushalayim it is imperative that we respect the minhag Yerushalayim when it come to dressing; skirts below the knees, elbows and collarbones covered, and stockings. In addition, please avoid shirts that have writing and or pictures on the front. These requirements will be enforced!

Learning and Davening

In addition to the learning that we will be doing on our daily trips, there will be a one hour shiur every day, the shiurim will be taught by experienced rebbetzins and the wives of established Kollel Avraichim. In addition to the daily shirum there will be additional shirum given by renowned Rebbeim and rebbitzens of Yerushalayim. Each day will have designated times for the davening of Shacharis and Mincha.

Out Shabbos

During the course of the four weeks there is one out Shabbos. Pick-up from the dorms at 12.00pm Friday August 6th and drop off at the dorms no later than 10.00am Sunday August 8th. It is imperative that any girl who plans to spend the Out Shabbos with friends or family returns the Out Shabbos permission form. No girl will be permitted to leave unless she is picked-up by the person indicated on her permission form. The girls who choose not to go out are welcome to stay in the dorms and walk, with their madrichot, to special families in the area.

Extras

Dance, Voice, Song Writing, Drama - campers can work individually with our staff on developing their creative skills and learning to use them to spiritually uplift other Jewish women and girls (extra fees do apply).

Cell Phones

Talk and Save will provide cell phones to our program. We require each camper to take advantage of it for two reasons: the first is safety! We want to be able to contact your daughter and we want your daughter to be able to contact us at all times. The second is you. We want you to have an open line of communication with your daughter. It is important to us that the experience does not become a cell fest, so all should know that there will be cell free periods when the madrichot will collect the phones.

Spending Money

The girls should bring a small amount of cash for purchases of snacks, water and gifts while on the road. Most bank card and credit cards will allow cash withdrawal from standard ATMs. It is advised that all money be deposited with the staff upon arrival in Israel. The money will be kept in the camp safe and distributed to each girl as needed.

Health Insurance

$1.00 a day comprehensive medical insurance plan must be obtained by every camper. (Benefits attached to form kit).

Laundry

Laundry service will be provided as needed for an additional fee of $12.00 per week; the laundry will be picked-up from the dorms, laundered, folded, and returned.  There are no laundry services during the nine days. Please mark all clothing and items with campers first and last names.

IPods and individual listening devices

We ask that the girls leave them at home. It is our goal to create a cohesive group of girls that function as a unit. It is much better for the girls to break out a guitar and start singing together then to be isolated individually with their music. There will be plenty of times on the bus and in the dorms when music is played and all can enjoy dancing and singing together. Girls are encouraged to bring their favorite Jewish music to share with the group. Any ipods or similar devices found will be confiscated.
